Web Designers can be a moody bunch 
but this rings true. I have noticed an obsession with widgets, by people not sure what they, but they want lots of them, in fact the whole website on the homepage … with a flash thing – video, ads, whatever – oh, and a site-breaking iframe for third party marketing campaign and the classic “i saw this great site which had this really cool [insert some pointless extra load of ball 'n chain javascript here]“.
